What is Solar Victoria?
Solar Victoria is a government-funded initiative that aims to increase the use of solar energy in the state of Victoria, Australia. It was launched in 2017 to drive the growth of solar energy in Victoria and to create jobs in the state’s clean energy industry. Solar Victoria provides assistance and support to households and businesses to help them access solar power.
The initiative offers incentives to support Victorians in installing solar systems in their homes and businesses. These incentives can help cover the cost of purchasing and installing solar power systems, as well as ongoing maintenance and monitoring.
The solar homes program is created for the following purposes -
- To reduce the energy costs of the common household.
- To boost the renewable energy supply to every common household.
- To create new jobs in the field of renewable energy and climate sector.

- To reduce the effect of carbon emission on the Australian climate.
The Solar Homes Program aims, even more, to lead the Australian state and provide even more Victorians with the benefit of the rebate and loans to reduce the initial cost of the solar system.

As per the current update, the solar battery rebate value will remain $3,500, until 30th June. From 1st July, the rebates will reduce to $2,950. However, Solar VIC will encourage solar customers to apply for rebates at a higher value of $3,500 by 30th June. There are only 2,600 rebates available currently for this amount.
An additional 1,700 solar battery rebates will be available from 1 July, increasing the rebates available for eligible customers to 5,200 for 2022-23. Additional rebates promote the chance for Victorian households to switch to a cleaner energy option. Victorian State Budget is supporting the rebate program by funding $42 million for Solar Victoria to continue to provide solar and battery rebates to eligible households. The funding is done to ensure that the Solar Homes Program continues towards a sustained growth of Victoria’s solar industry.
